DVSA & Northumbria Police Road Safety Operation

TT2  Limited, working in partnership with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and Northumbria Police, hosted a road safety operation to take dangerous  vehicles off our roads. Officers from DVSA conducted this operation at the  Tyne Tunnel on Wed 3rd August. They were carrying out stop checks, which looked to identify any vehicle defects, operator licensing and drivers hours offences that could pose a danger to other road users. The results of the checks were as follows:

 7 Vehicles  were stopped and checked.

 1 Vehicle was subject to an immediate Prohibition Notice for a mechanical defect

 1 Operator licence offence

 1 Drivers hours offence  (failure to produce)

 1 Vehicle was uplifted by Northumbria Police as it was not insured

Uninsured vehicle uplifted by Northumbria Police

TT2 Operations Manager Stu Sutton, said; “This was another successful operation which demonstrates the importance of adopting a multi-agency approach to road safety at the Tyne Tunnels, I would like to thank all those who took part.”
