Notice of overnight works at the Tyne Tunnels

Night time road works will be taking place within the vehicular Tyne Tunnels from Monday 4th November 2013 for a period of up to three months. The works will be completed by 25th November 2013.

The overnight works will not affect daytime traffic, which will have full use of both lanes through the northbound and southbound vehicle tunnels for the duration of the works.

The road works will commence after 10.00pm at night, until 6.00am the following morning, during which time one lane in each tunnel will be closed to traffic. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

The works in the southbound tunnel are required to address a drainage channel beneath the road deck that is not performing correctly, and will be replaced. In the northbound tunnel remedial work to the exit portal is required.

TT2 would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the works, which are being carried out overnight in order to minimise potential disruption.
