A19 CLOSED at the Tyne Tunnel for construction works.

During this period there will be no access to the A19 between the Jarrow junction (A185) south of

the Tyne Tunnel and the Tynemouth Road (A193) junction to the north of the tunnel.

Motorists are advised to use the A1(M) Western Bypass or Tyne Bridge (via Newcastle upon Tyne)

to reach their destinations.

From 11pm on Sunday 6 June the Tyne Tunnel will re-open, and there will be full access in both

directions to the A19.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this unavoidable tunnel closure, and thank you for

your patience.
