The 2023 Great North Run starts on the Central Motorway in Newcastle and finishes 13 miles later in South Shields.

Are the Tyne Tunnels impacted?
Our operations team are working 24/7 to ensure the traffic runs smoothly and we are working with the local councils to support The Great North Run.
Are there any drink and toilet stops?
Yes, the initial station is positioned around mile two, in proximity to Gateshead Stadium. Subsequently, at approximately mile four, you’ll find the next facility near Heworth Metro Station.
You’ll encounter another restroom and refreshment stations at mile six, mile eight, mile 10, and mile 12. These amenities are conveniently spaced every two miles along the route.
