North East Charities Gifted £120,000 from TT2
TT2 has gifted North East charities £120,559 over the last 12 months and is topping off the bumper year of giving by donating £12,000 to 12 charities over the 12 days of Christmas.
With Christmas being one of the hardest times of the year for many people, including those in hardship, suffering with bereavement, or illnesses, TT2 is donating £12,000 to a range of causes.
The first to receive their £1,000 – on 12 December – is Maggie’s Cancer Care, which has centres in Newcastle and Middlesbrough and offers care and support for people impacted by cancer, and their families.
The 13 December will see TT2 deliver a cheque to Cats Protection Tyneside, which helps cats and kittens that are unwanted, neglected or abused.
Pathways4All, which provides play and leisure services for disabled children and young people, is receiving £1,000 on the third day of Christmas.
Children’s Cancer North, North East Autism Society, Women’s Aid, Feeding Families, Breast Cancer Now, Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter, Daft as a Brush, People’s Kitchen and Wag & Co will also receive £1,000 each.
The 12 Days of Christmas support package follows another year of significant donations to local charities and organisations from the Tyne Tunnels Community Fund, amounting to over £105,000 in 2025.
COO at TT2, Shaun Simmons, said: “All of these charities are personally chosen by people in our 130-strong team. We are a strong community partner and really glad to be able to support these local charities that do a wonderful job of helping people and animals in need.”
