TT2 Employee-led Beehives Sweeten the Workplace

Last month, our very own beekeeper, Steven, harvested a batch of delicious honey from the TT2 beehives nestled within our woodland.

Steven’s recent involvement in beekeeping has enriched his life and benefited the community. By tending to the three hives, he’s helping to increase the local bee population and promote a healthier ecosystem.

A Taste of Sustainability

The honey harvested from the TT2 beehives is more than just a sweet treat; it’s a testament to our commitment to sustainability. By supporting local pollinators, we’re contributing to a greener future.

Honey Extraction Process

Curious about how honey is extracted? Here’s a glimpse into Steven’s process:

  1. Calming the Bees: A bee smoker is used to gently calm the bees before the honey-filled frames are removed.
  2. Uncapping the Combs: A specialised knife carefully removes the wax cappings from the honeycomb cells.
  3. Extracting the Honey: The frames are placed in an extractor, where a spinning motion forces the honey out of the comb.
  4. Filtering and Bottling: The raw honey is filtered to remove any impurities and then bottled for our enjoyment.
