In mid-September, the Heritage Tours kicked off, welcoming some new faces who joined us this year to support the tours.
Heritage Open Days is England’s biggest community festival of history and culture. Each September, it brings people together to celebrate heritage, explore traditions, and discover hidden places and new experiences.
Visitors experienced a presentation in the boardroom, followed by a minibus ride to the South Extract Building (SEB). From there, they explored the escape galleries and concluded with a guided tour of the control room.
The Heritage Tours have now concluded, following an incredible two weeks of success, all thanks to the dedication and hard work of our TT2 employees who planned and delivered these fantastic visits!
The tours were a complete sell-out, with a total of 135 attendees across the fortnight. These exclusive experiences offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating operations that keep the tunnels running smoothly every single day.
We also marked a big milestone on Sunday, 21st September, when Barry Gatenby led his final heritage tour, marking the end of an incredible 27-year journey of sharing stories and history. We would like to honour Barry for his commitment, dedication, and passion towards the heritage tours here at TT2.
A huge thank you to everyone involved!
