Beatrix’s Heart Journey – Awareness of Children’s Organ Donation

Beatrix at only 15 months old suffered heart failure and in May 2022 was admitted to the Freeman Hospital, a specialist centre for heart operations. After suffering cardiac arrest, major heart surgery was needed.

Beatrix along with many other children are waiting for heart transplants. However, its proven difficult to find suitable matches for vital organs. Since the pandemic, the number of available donors has dropped and increasing awareness on organ donation, including children’s organ donation is important giving children around the country a second chance.
