Are you eligible for an exemption account?

You qualify for exempt travel through the Tyne Tunnels if you either:

  • are a blue Badge Holder
  • are entitled to nil road tax either through the Motability Scheme or if your vehicle is exempt due to disability
  • are a Charity, Business or a Service Provider (e.g. Fire, Ambulance, Police, Bus)

If you’re a Blue Badge holder, you can now self-serve and manage your own Vehicle Registration Number changes against your Blue Badge exemption via your online account. Please login to your account to do this.

I already have an Exemption permit, when do I have to renew?

Renewals are required annually. Please visit our renewal form here.

I have more than 1 vehicle. How does this work?

You can only register one vehicle against your exemption. You will have the option to change your registered vehicle once per calendar month. Blue Badge holders can self-serve and manage their own vehicle registration number changes against their exemption via their online account. Please login to your account to do this.

How am I reminded to renew my exemption?

If the email address you’ve provided in your application is already associated with a TT2 Pre-Paid Account, or if an email address has not been specified in your application, you will not receive reminders to renew your exemption.  Please note the date of expiry and be sure to renew your exemption before it expires, otherwise you may be subject to unpaid toll charges.
